Technology, innovation and creativity came together at Cyprus Comic Con 2026!
NUP-WiSTEM, an initiative of the Department of Computer Science at Neapolis University Pafos, took part in Cyprus Comic Con 2026, offering visitors a special experience in the world of technology!
Through interactive robotics workshops, virtual reality (VR) experiences and the presence of Laica, young and old had the chance to explore the fascinating world of science and innovation!

🧠🤖 AI, Psychology & Misinformation | NUP-WiSTEM at Researchers’ Night 2026
How does Artificial Intelligence affect the way we perceive information? How easily can we tell true content from misleading content, and what role does human psychology play in this process?
Built around these highly topical questions, NUP-WiSTEM, an initiative of the Department of Computer Science at Neapolis University Pafos, took part in Researchers’ Night 2026, in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, presenting the theme “AI, Psychology and Misinformation”.
Through the meeting of Computer Science and Psychology, the activity highlighted different dimensions of an issue that concerns us all: the way AI is changing the information ecosystem, the mechanisms that can amplify the spread of misinformation, and the importance of critical thinking and digital literacy in today’s digital age.
This participation also reflects the philosophy of NUP-WiSTEM: to build bridges between different scientific fields, to bring research closer to society, and to strengthen the presence and voice of women in science, technology and innovation.

🚀 Blockchain & Digital Democracy: Building Trust in the Digital Age
Can blockchain technology transform democracy? In this webinar, we will explore the potential of blockchain to decentralise democratic processes, strengthen transparency and empower citizens. We will discuss real-world applications, analyse limitations and challenges, and design solutions through the interactive activity “Building Digital Democracy: Design-a-Thon”.
👩🏫 About the Speaker
Dr. Evgenia Kapassa is a Visiting Lecturer at Neapolis University Pafos and the Cyprus University of Technology, specialising in blockchain, emerging technologies and digital innovation. She is active in areas such as digital transformation in information systems, participatory science and digital innovation. She holds a PhD in blockchain technology and has an extensive research record. Her participation is also part of the activities promoted by NUP-WiSTEM, of which she is an active member, supporting the advancement of women in STEM.

It is organised by the MSc in “Information Systems & Digital Innovation” in collaboration with NUP-WiSTEM.
With great pleasure, Neapolis University Pafos takes an active part in the conference with academics from the NUP-WiSTEM group of the Department of Computer Science, supporting the strengthening of the presence of young people – and especially girls – in STEM sciences.
The NUP-WiSTEM group of the Department of Computer Science at Neapolis University Pafos invites you to a special educational presentation with an interactive workshop, dedicated to Unreal Engine 5, the game development engine that is redefining the creation of digital experiences and interactive content. Particular emphasis is placed on highlighting the presence of women in the field of game development, promoting equal participation, empowerment and visibility in areas of technological and scientific innovation.
The NUP-WiSTEM group of the Department of Computer Science at Neapolis University Pafos took part with great joy in the Science Day of the 8th Primary School of Pafos on Sunday, May 10, 10:00-13:00, running the Interactive Robotics Workshop.
Through creative, hands-on activities, the children had the opportunity to learn the basic concepts of robotics, programming and technology in a fun and interactive way.
This activity is part of the NUP-WiSTEM group’s initiatives to promote the participation of children, and especially girls, in STEM fields, inspiring the new generation to explore the world of science and innovation.
As part of the NUP-WiSTEM initiative, Neapolis University Pafos welcomed to its premises the pupils of the 3rd grade of the 3rd Primary School of Limassol, during an educational visit that took place on January 26, 2026.
The central focus of the activity was an interactive educational robotics workshop, specially designed for primary school pupils. The workshop was carried out in collaboration with academic staff and undergraduate students of the Department of Computer Science.
The NUP-WiSTEM group (Neapolis University Pafos – Women in STEM) of the Department of Computer Science at Neapolis University Pafos took an active part in the conference entitled «Educational & Career Choices in STEM Sciences», organised by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) and CEPIS, in collaboration with ten universities in Cyprus and under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth.
The event took place in Nicosia, bringing together academics, teachers, researchers and professionals from the fields of education and technology, with the aim of exchanging views and good practices to strengthen education and career prospects in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
The two academic leads of the NUP-WiSTEM initiative from the Department of Computer Science took an active part in the proceedings, contributing to a meaningful dialogue on the critical role of teachers in shaping young people’s career choices in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening the participation of girls in STEM fields, as well as on creating educational environments that encourage the development of digital, analytical and scientific skills from an early age.
The conference also presented activities of the NUP-WiSTEM initiative, which promotes the empowerment of girls and young women in STEM fields through awareness-raising activities, mentoring, educational workshops and collaborations with schools and educational organisations.
The NUP-WiSTEM group had the honour of participating, through one of its academic members, in a particularly important event dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women.
We warmly congratulate Tasos Antoniades for his meaningful contribution and his role in the public dialogue around equality, respect and the role of society in shaping a fairer and more inclusive future.
The event made it clear that the progress of a society is not only economic or technological, but above all human and cultural, based on respect, acceptance and inclusion.
